Not making the same mistake twice, Roland was uncatchable on Sunday with a flag to flag victory ...

Amazing drive given that he had never seen the track before.

Nice way to end the weekend !

Friend, Roland d’Abel de Libran was in California from Europe.

His home being in the beautiful area of Provence France.

Having been a very skillfull rally driver Roland is now a very enthusiastic vintage racer.

Not wanting to miss an opportunity we loaded up the G4

and headed off to the HSR West event at P.I.R

And a memorable weekend it turned out to be .....

Having posted the fastest lap in practice Roland was to start the Saturday qualifying race on the pole.  Roland however had never done a ‘U.S. style’ rolling start and with my lack of proper instruction it caused a bit of a dilemma ....

Being out of position at the start got Roland a black flag drive through on the second lap - so from pole to last in the drive through left us with lots to do ....

It appeared we had nothing to worry about .... Roland drove through the whole field to take the lead on the last lap - winning the qualifying race.
